I would like to take this time to thank all the residents of Dundee for their hard work, patience, and understanding during our tornado incident on June 6th. I was amazed, as I drove around the neighborhoods minutes after the tornado hit, that many residents were already out of their houses, looking after each other and their neighbors.
The Dundee Police Department, Dundee Fire Department, Department of Public Works, Monroe County Sheriff’s Dept, and Michigan State Police responded immediately to help the injured and check the safety of everyone. The Fire Department actually drove through the tornado responding to a structure fire.
Dundee received immediate help from volunteers, other local governments, and companies from all over Michigan and the surrounding area. Large and small companies donated money, their work force, supplies, food, and their expert services. We have many local governments that sent their police officers, department of public works, fire departments, and office workers to Dundee to help us.
The outpouring of support is amazing but not surprising because this is Michigan and this is what Michigan people and Americans do.
These volunteers, companies, and other governmental agencies are too many to mention in this letter. There is no way that the Village of Dundee can thank the hundreds of volunteers that helped out after the tornado, except to say all your efforts are greatly appreciated. Again, to all of you, Thank You for your help and Kindness.

Dundee Village President
